America’s member-owned electric cooperatives take pride in representing the interests of the rural families and businesses they serve. That’s why electric cooperative member-consumers – customers who are served by and own their local, not-for-profit electric utility – are banding together and leading the way in discussing what needs to be done to ensure they will have the power needed to support future economic growth in their communities.
Through our Rural Power program, member-consumers in key presidential nominating states, including Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and others, will be engaging presidential candidates from both parties in a discussion on their plan for ensuring access to affordable, reliable power in rural America.
Across the nation, rural electric cooperatives bring power to 42 million member-consumers. These member-consumers are engaged in their community and passionate about ensuring our nation has a long-term plan for meeting our energy demands. That’s why they will continue to attend events and ask a simple question to candidates: “How will America meet its future electricity needs?”
